Maths, Business & Computing
Welcome to the Faculty of Maths, Business and Computing
We are a large and dynamic faculty, teaching a range of courses at Key Stages 4 and 5 as well as Mathematics and Computing at KS3.
We are very fortunate within the faculty to have a team of highly experienced and effective teachers. With a number of us having gained Masters Degrees in education, with expertise in topics including Educational Leadership and Innovation, Coaching and Mentoring. Without exception, standards in our lessons are of the highest calibre – our students expect to be challenged and respond positively to the learning experience that we offer.
The Mathematics department is staffed by 11 well qualified maths specialists with a passion for their subject. All teachers are experienced at teaching at all levels and are committed to ensuring that students reach their maximum potential. Three of our teachers are senior examiners in Mathematics. A Level Maths and Further Maths are very popular at Sixth Form and achieve good results.
Our Business department not only delivers Business at GCSE and A-level, but also BTEC L2 and L3. In the Sixth Form students are also given the opportunity to study A-level Economics. Our subjects are highly relevant in the rapidly changing world that our students will be entering when they leave school. We are very proud of the connections that we have with local and national businesses, who visit the school to support students with their learning and frequently offer our students employment with them at the end of their A-level studies.Teachers in the Business department have all themselves had industry experience prior to coming into the profession.
Our Computing teachers are all highly trained with degree's in Computer Science as well as holding Lead School Status for Computing. Students have an opportunity to study Computer Science as a core subject at Key Stage 3 and also as a GCSE and A Level qualification. Digital Information Technology TECH award is available at KS4 and BTEC National in ICT is also available at A Level.
